Steve Chambers

President / Class of 1962

Steve Chambers, Class of 1962, taught social studies at North High for 32 year and coached track and field, cross country, swimming, boys’ soccer, and girls’ soccer.  He served on Salem-Keizer school board for 12 years.  He was one of the founding Viking Association board members!  He was inducted into NSHS Hall of Fame in the category of Achievement. Since retiring Steve has continued to coach both track and cross country as a volunteer (now over 50 years of coaching).  He sings in two choirs, one of which is a 100-voice community chorus. He likes to read and loves to travel (over 60 countries so far). Until 2020 he announced North High football games and occasionally basketball. He also loves to spend time almost daily with his grandson who will be a 5^th generation Viking!
